Role of Technology in the Teaching and Learning Process

When we say technology, “gadgets/ machines” are the words we sudden think about but really, technology concerns itself with understanding how knowledge is creatively applied to organized tasks involving people and machines that meet sustainable goals. An understanding how people shape technology and how technology shapes people's interactions with each other and the natural world is important not only for those who research, develop and implement new technologies but also for all those people and organizations that have to use those technologies in their working and personal lives (Lane, 2019).
When I was on my basic education, I can recall the technologies that my teachers used to render lessons effectively. The following are their methods:
1.) Using books
2.) Blackboard and chalk
3.) Using manila paper and other colorful papers for presenting topics
4.) Using monitor/ computer when discussing the topic
5.) Projecting education-related movies
6.) Use of speakers when tasked to play audio
7.) Introducing Information Communication Technology/ different online applications
8.) Using PowerPoint presentation
9.) Introducing the websites and how to make one
10.) Exchanging thoughts through social media using smartphones/ laptops/ personal computer
But among the methods written above, I find the introduction of ICT and exchanging thoughts through social media using gadgets very helpful because as of now that we are experiencing pandemic that prevent us from learning through face-to-face it’s when the learning using different online platforms that can lead us through continuous learning despite of the crisis we have is very needed. For me the introduction of ICT made me aware of it’s uses and how far I can learn with it—with just being explorative, it made me utilizes the applications properly as well as it’s negative effects when used improperly. It taught me how to use different online/ offline applications and discover many things that exist all around the world for instance culture of different countries. seen on the internet that somehow gave you an idea of what and how they are as a group. The greatest part of it that amazes and helped me is how I can connect with different people that away from me or even connect with people internationally.
For the exchanging thoughts through social media using gadgets, it’s very helpful in a way that you can gain ideas from different people’s insight and will help you broaden your perception on different things. It will also teach you to identify whether things posted are accurate information from reliable sources or not by making sure it came from a trusted article or author.
We have a lot of opportunities because of the unending ideas of people whose trying their best to discover more technology to lessen the life’s burden and make things easy and comfortable all we have to do is to utilize those creations in an efficient way not in an abusive way.
